Friend,
Election Day is here.
Across the country, folks are figuring out where to vote, checking their registration, and making a plan for the day. If you’re still figuring out where to go, you can find your polling place, hours, and other voting information in a couple of clicks.
Today’s elections are about more than a name on a ballot. The people elected and appointed to make decisions about things like your rent, utility bills, your kid’s school, and your local hospital shape what happens in our communities every day.
So before you head out, take a couple of minutes to make sure you have the information you need.

And if you’re heading to the polls, bring a friend, bring the family, wear your favorite fit, put on your playlist, and make a day of it. If you share your Election Day moments, tag us with #WeGotUs so we can see you out there.
Already voted? Black Voters Matter is on the ground all day, ready to respond wherever voters run into trouble and working to protect every ballot through the final count. If you’d like to make another impact today, make a gift here to support our work.
We’re in this together.
In Solidarity,
Black Voters Matter

Documents reveal St. James parish efforts to undermine environmental justice advocates
We were in court last week with Inclusive Louisiana, Mount Triumph Baptist Church, and RISE St. James in our case suing St. James Parish over decades of environmental racism. Newly revealed documents show St. James Parish officials worked with petrochemical companies to discredit local environmental justice groups and downplay concerns about Cancer Alley. Cancer Alley is a heavily industrialized stretch along the Mississippi River between Baton Rouge and New Orleans, where mostly Black communities face serious pollution and adverse health consequences from petrochemical plants. The records also show officials tried to pressure a church that was hosting a pollution conference. Now, the Parish wants sensitive membership, health, and financial records from plaintiffs. The plaintiffs say these demands violate their rights and threaten their ability to organize.

On October 3, 2026, an event hosted by the Center for Constitutional Rights and AROC Action brought together Mahmoud Khalil’s personal story, his ongoing legal battles, and a wider conversation about how movements can resist political repression while continuing to organize for justice.
