Rixi Moncada is a Honduran political leader who ran for president in 2025 with the LIBRE Party. During the governments of Manuel Zelaya (2006-2009) and Xiomara Castro (2022-present), she worked in the Public Ministry, the Legislature, the Ministry of Labor, and as General Manager of the Energy Company. She also served as Minister of Finance and Minister of Defense. Rixi Moncada will be interviewed by Zoe Alexandra, a journalist and the News Director of BreakThrough News.

Lawmakers just approved nearly $70 billion for ICE and CBP. But no amount of funding can silence a movement demanding dignity, safety, and respect for everyone’s human rights.
I’m sorry to say that last week, Congress approved nearly $70 billion in new funding for ICE and CBP.
Despite ongoing reports of human rights violations and abuses, lawmakers chose to hand billions more taxpayer dollars to these cruel agencies responsible for mass detention, family separation, racial profiling, and enforcement practices that are terrorizing communities across the country.
More than 60,000 Amnesty International supporters urged Congress to reject this funding.
We spoke out. We made calls. We visited offices. We demanded something better.
Congress chose not to listen.
For so many immigrant families, this vote brings renewed fear and uncertainty on top of a mountain of trauma. It signals an expansion of a brutal system that has already caused immense harm to people seeking safety and to be treated with dignity.
Our fight is far from over. We've already seen what people-powered action can accomplish.
Over the last year, Amnesty supporters have been vocal in calls to shut down the despicable detention center known as "Alligator Alcatraz." We rallied, organized, raised our voices, and helped expose the government-sanctioned terror and torture going on inside its walls.
And now, it’s reported to be shutting down. As I write, the facility remains open, and we won't stop until every last person is out and it is closed for good. We won’t stop until people held unlawfully in detention centers across the country can walk freely.
Dorinda, hear me out: Our collective action is making a difference.
Public scrutiny is growing. Lawmakers are being forced to answer for the cruelty of detention policies. More of us are paying attention.
Dilley is the only family immigration detention center operating in the United States. And we have a chance to shut. 👏it.👏 down. 👏
Families seeking safety should never be locked behind bars while navigating the asylum process. Children should never be detained simply because their families are seeking protection.
Family detention is cruel and unnecessary. And it must end.
Today, I’m asking you to help channel your outrage into action.
Congress may have voted to expand detention, but they have not silenced the growing movement demanding a future where human rights are respected, families remain together, and people seeking safety are treated with dignity.

Querida Dorinda,
Este mes se cumplen 14 años de DACA. 14 años de jóvenes que se despiertan cada mañana y eligen contribuir, servir, liderar, incluso cuando su propio futuro es tratado como una moneda de cambio política. Nuestra gente de DACA son enfermeras que te cogieron de la mano en el hospital. Son profesores que enseñan a tus hijos a leer. Mantienen a nuestras comunidades en vida.
La administración actual no solo amenaza con DACA. Lo están desmontando pieza a pieza. Retrasos. Castigos. Deportaciones. Más de 340 beneficiarios de DACA han sido detenidos. Más de 90 fueron deportados. Estos no son números. Estos son nuestros vecinos. Nuestros amigos. Nuestra familia. Personas reales a las que les destrozaron toda la vida solo porque sus padres tomaron una decisión por ellos cuando eran niños.
Lo sé porque he estado a su lado. He visto a jóvenes que llegaron aquí de niños, que no conocen otro hogar, ser esposados y llevados. Su único error fue amar a este, a su país, demasiado para irse.
Estas son nuestras personas. No son desechables. Pero están pasando por un mal momento. No pueden continuar esta lucha solos. Aquí en LUPE, nuestros proveedores de servicios sociales acreditados por el DOJ continúan ayudando a nuestros Dreamers ofreciendo renovaciones de DACA a bajo precio. Nuestro equipo de comunicación sigue manteniendo informados a nuestros soñadores sobre cualquier aviso de viaje para beneficiarios de DACA en la región fronteriza Texas-México. Mientras tanto, nuestros equipos de participación cívica y organización continúan defendiendo sus intereses a nivel local, estatal y federal enviando testimonios a nuestros representantes electos para animarles a seguir luchando por nuestros vecinos de DACA.
Esta mañana temprano, Estados Unidos comenzó a bombardear Venezuela y Donald Trump anunció más tarde que Estados Unidos secuestró al presidente, Nicolás Maduro. Esto es un crimen de guerra. No se trata de narcotráfico, no se trata de democracia —se trata de robar el petróleo de Venezuela y dominar América Latina. Es una escalada escandalosa en una campaña de asesinatos en aguas internacionales y piratería dirigida a barcos civiles que comercian con Venezuela.
En Nueva York, nos reuniremos en Times Square a las 14:00.
¡El pueblo de este país no quiere otra guerra! La maquinaria de guerra consume una cantidad inimaginable de nuestros impuestos mientras las familias trabajadoras luchan por llegar a fin de mes. En una guerra total con Venezuela, serán los jóvenes de clase trabajadora los que serán enviados a matar y morir, no los hijos de ejecutivos de ExxonMobil y LockheedMartin. ¡La gente tiene que salir a las calles y decir NO a la guerra de Trump contra Venezuela!
